Do you ever want to flip the orientation of your Google Slides and go vertical? Well, you won’t find a feature for rotating the slide entirely 90 degrees within Google Slides, but the work is still doable with a little effort. Let’s go through the process of flipping your Google Slides to a vertical format so your presentations really pop.

Why Rotate Google Slides?

Rotating slides in Google Slides can be very useful whenever you want to present the information in a vertical format, such as when making infographics, flyers, or maybe announcements. It also adds freshness to your slides so that your presentation does not go through the usual way of a landscape format.

Steps to Rotate the Google Slides 90 Degrees

Step 1: Open Your Google Slides

Open your presentation in Google Slides. You may make a new presentation or use an existing one if you prefer. Once you have logged into the project, you are good to go on orienting.

Step 2: Get to Page Setup

To make your slides rotate, you will want to change the page orientation:

  • Click the “File” tab in the top menu bar.
  • Navigate through the list and select “Page setup.”

A pop-up box will open, giving the current slide dimensions—it’s usually widescreen (16:9 or 4:3 ratio)

Step 3: Change the Slide Dimensions

On the Page setup box, you can find an option “Custom.”

  • Click the custom option.
  • Enter the new dimensions to rotate to portrait (90°) or flip the width and height dimensions.
  • For example, if the default size is 10 inches wide by 5.63 inches tall, switch them to 5.63 inches wide by 10 inches tall.
  • Click “Apply” to save your changes.

This will simply turn your Google Slides upside down, providing a portrait view. It’s perfect for posters, flyers, and more formal presentations.

Change the Content of the Slides

As you change the slide orientation, you will likely discover that your content no longer fits. No problem! Just adjust your text boxes, images, and anything else, aligning according to a new portrait layout. You will have to resize or reposition specific items such that they fit well and look healthy.

Pro Tip: Ready-to-Use Templates to Make It Easy to Customize Your Slides

If you want to make professional slides in even less time, there are heaps of free Google Slides templates that come with portrait layouts. That will save you more time and certainly ensure perfect alignment of content with the chosen design without your efforts to alter the page setup manually.

By following the above steps, you can easily turn Google Slides by 90 degrees and explore new possibilities for your presentations.
